Renew/Join CAMP for 2024 now!

2024 will be an important milestone for CAMP - The Motocamping Club: WE ARE TURNING FIVE! We have a fantastic season lined up, and we are really going to turn up the dials. So don’t sit on this: as of today, Monday, October 2nd, you can renew your membership/join CAMP for 2024. The sooner you join/renew, the better it gets for you.

  • Renew/join CAMP before the end of this month, October 31st, and enjoy a reduced rate for both our original and PLUS memberships. Early membership allows you to book our s’mores before everybody else. The 2024 schedule is ready: those who renew early will have access to it immediately, while everybody else will have to wait until November 1st.

  • Be among the first 35 people to renew/join and receive a Sea to Summit Xbrew collapsable coffee dripper (value $19.95). This thing packs super small and can be used with any mug/glass to make a cup of coffee while you are motocamping. You can see photos of what it looks like at the bottom of this post.

  • Didn’t act soon enough to be among the first 35? No worries: renew/join before December 31st and automatically enter into a raffle to win a free s’more pass to motocamp for free all year in 2024 (value: several hundreds $)!

  • And yes, everybody will receive the five year anniversary patch…

CAMP memberships options for 2024:

  • CAMP Original Membership gives  access to all events (motocamping trips, training days, seminars) and to all  discounts we have negotiated with our friends and partners. Renew or join before October 31st and pay only $40 for the whole year.  After that date, the cost will go up to $50.

  • CAMP Membership PLUS is $400/year if you join/renew before October 31st. After that date, the rate is $500/year. This option includes all the benefits of our Original Membership, PLUS a lot more:

    • Four days of motorcycle rental of one of Temple of Moto motorcycles included in your membership. Choose among a BMW GS 1250 Rallye, a BMW GS 1200 Triple Black, a BMW R1200 R, a Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE. Rent a bike for one of our CAMP’s S’mores, or to go anywhere in the US - the mileage is unlimited.

    • Exclusive $80/day rental rate for any of the motorcycles above, once the four rental days included in your membership elapse.

    • Priority booking window for every new S’more, training activity, and event organized by CAMP - you get first dibs on everything.

    • 20% discount on Temple of Motos motorcycle tours.

    • Exclusive CAMP Fifth Year Anniversary swag.

    • You want to use your free rental on one of our S’mores, but you don’t want to ride the motorcycle there? No problem - as long as our support truck is going there, we can transport you and/or your rented bike to your destination and back at a fee.

CAMP Membership Original makes the most sense if you don’t need to rent a motorcycle and if you don't think you will want to join a Temple of Moto tour (that discount alone is way more than the membership). CAMP Membership PLUS makes a lot of sense in a couple of scenarios: if you think you are going to want to rent a motorcycle to join one of our S'mores, for instance - our members Olivier and Alex used their PLUS membership to find a BMW GS waiting for them at camp for our Colorado s'more, and they ended up spending a lot less money than those who rented a (worse) bike elsewhere. Or if you want to rent a motorcycle for even just a few days to do your own thing, like our members Lyle in Chicago and Leigh and Julian in North Carolina did.

Why renew/join CAMP?

Looking back at 2023, CAMP :

  • Organized 11 motocamping trips, all around the US, from Wisconsin to Colorado, from Illinois to North Carolina, from Tennessee to Michigan;

  • Coordinated 4 off road rides (in Colorado, in the Smokies and two in Wisconsin/Michigan);

  • Launched new branches in North Carolina, Colorado and California.

  • Hosted a winter camping trip and a ski trip;

  • Offered tens of members the chance to get both off road and paved training at a discount with our friends of Heavy Enduro, Motoworks and DC Dirtcamp;

  • Conducted seminars on a variety of topics (from motorcycle maintenance to GPS route planning) and several bookclub meetings;

  • Presented many free events targeted at helping newbies getting into motocamping (from seminars, to actual free motocamping trips);

  • Continued the motoGP fantasy league and a mileage contest, both of which are still ongoing;

  • Increased the list of partners and vendors with which CAMP members have discounts with - the value of our discounts alone far, far exceeds what your membership costs.

  • Launched a flea market section on our website.

I like to think that, beyond these hard numbers, what CAMP has done is fostering a vibrant community of motocamping lovers all around the nation. Over 250 people have come to our motocamping events this year, and over 350 have come to our social and training events. And we have done some good for the community too, raising money for the Chicago Food Depository. Many friendships have blossomed in front of our campfires, many s'mores have been consumed, and many miles have been ridden.

What will CAMP - The Motocamping Club do in 2024?

2024 will be CAMP’s fifth anniversary, and we have a lot of exciting activities to look forward to. We will go into a lot of details about our 2024 schedule over the next few weeks, but in a nutshell, this is what we have planned:

  • A total of 14 motocamping events, from April to October. As usual, some of these will be paved only, some of them will be off road only and some will be both;

  • Two full blown Rally events, with a lot of fun activities in June, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and in October, in Virginia.

  • The possibility to “glamp up” your motocamping experience on select S’mores;

  • A winter camping trip and a ski/winter sports trip in Q1;

  • A canoe camping trip in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota;

  • Off road and paved training opportunities;

  • Many training seminars;

  • Bookclub meetings and monthly meetings to gather and socialize;

  • Our MotoGP Fantasy League and our Mileage Contest will be back again!

I hope you will join me again for next year - cold months are ahead, but we are going to keep our motocamping flame alive. Our next meetings are:
