This is what you told me you want CAMP to do in 2026

Earlier in the summer, I sent out a poll to everybody on CAMP’s mailing list (members and non members) asking for input about the 2026 season: where should CAMP go next year, what activities we should focus on and so forth. Below are some of the key results. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the poll: you helped me prioritize activities for 2026.

And speaking of…our 2026 calendar is almost 100% completed. You will be able to renew your CAMP membership/join CAMP for 2026 in a few weeks, as of October 1st. Upon renewing/joining you will have the 2026 schedule immediately, and will be able to book the next season before everybody else. I will come back to this in a couple of weeks.

But now, without further ado, let’s have a look at what you told me you wanted to do next year, in 2026, because some of the results are surprising to me.

Paved vs off road

The vast majority of CAMP members (60%) is interested in both paved and unpaved motocamping events, with 40% only interested in paved and 13% only interested in dual sport/off road. This split is stable from last year, although the number of people interested in both is growing slightly. The good news is that 2026 will offer plenty of events catering to everyone.

You don’t like the idea of traveling every day, sleeping in motels or hiking

This year I asked you if you were interested in events that are in the same location for a few days, with loop rides leaving every day from basecamp, or in events that get you to different camping locations every day or every other day, but cover more routes. The overwhelming majority of you, 77%, prefer to stay put. This is not, though, in line with the attendance from this year…the only sold out CAMP events in 2025 were those that required you to travel every day and set up camp in a different location every night. Interesting.

I have also asked you what is the most important thing for you in a campground for a CAMP event. Over 55% of you indicated that the most important thing is access to great riding. 16% of you indicated access to showers as the most important thing, while 13% chose access to other non riding activities (hiking, fishing…). This definitely helped me chose a couple of our locations for next year. Stay tuned.

I also asked you if you would be interested in events that have you sleep in a motel/hotel. 82% of you said NO, you only want CAMP to focus on camping event, while 18% was open to the idea of motels/hotels.

Where to go?

When asked which of this year’s motocamping locations we should keep on the schedule for 2026, the Ozarks came on top, the Upper Peninsula was second, and Door County in Wisconsin was third. These were interesting results, since not many people went to the Ozarks or the UP this year…we will see. This is not the first time that the poll indicates an overwhelming majority for a certain location and then nobody books it - last year everybody said they wanted to go to Vermont and only one person signed up (you can still sign up here).

When asked about long distance events for 2026, again the Ozarks were the clear winner, followed by the Colorado Rockies and the Smoky Mountains. Well, let’s say you will be happy with the 2026 schedule then…

In terms of off road destinations, the Pennsylvania BDR X and the Smoky 500 were the clear winners for next year, and I can already confirm they will be in the schedule, together with other two events that I believe will be a blast…

The Next Steps

2026 CAMP schedule will be released to everyone on November 1st. Those who will renew their CAMP membership between October 1s-31st will get the schedule in advance and will be able to book all events immediately.

Stay tuned!
