CAMP FOURTH ANNUAL ICE S’MORE
CAMP THIRD ANNUAL ICE S’MORE - GOVERNOR DODGE STATE PARK, WI, JANUARY 18-19, 2025
WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE?
Join us for a quick overnight winter camping trip in Wisconsin’s Winter Wonderland on January 10-11, at Governor Dodge State Park. This State Park traditionally plows a few of its campsites for the Winter, and that’s where we will camp. Yes, in January. Are we crazy? No (ok, maybe). THIS IS NOT A MOTOCAMPING EVENT: you are welcome to come by car, of course.
Camping in the winter is not impossible, but it comes with its risks. You have to have the right sleeping bag, the right sleeping pad, and a lot of base layers. Depending on the temperature, it may be very pleasant, or it may be a no go. We will watch the weather and see how it is. But if you come, come prepared! We will share well in advance a wealth of material for you to read on. But this is a nice article to start with.
We will drive to Governor Dodge’s State Park on Saturday morning, build our tents, build a beautiful fire, and spend the day outdoors enjoying the Winter Wonderland. We will cook great warm food and tell each other how silly we are or how great we are, it will all depend - and bring your snowshoes for a trek to Stephens Falls, where we will watch ice climbers climbing the frozen cascade.
If you are interested but don’t have enough winter camping gear, send us a message - you can borrow some of our gear.
THE COST OF THIS EVENT IS $10 PER PERSON.
CAMP WINTER S’MORE 2026
CAMP WINTER S’MORE 2026 - GRANITE PEAK, WI, FEBRUARY 6-8, 2026
WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE?
Join us for CAMP annual Winter S'more, at Granite Peak, in Wasau, WI, a four hours drive from Chicago (227200 Snowbird Ave, Wausau, WI 54401). This ski area has more than 70 runs, 6 terrain parks and - at least by Midwestern standards - decently long slopes, some of them shy of a mile. Plenty of green slopes for newbies, plenty of blue and plenty of black slopes too. Skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing available.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I PAY?
This event is “pay as you go”, i.e. you make all reservations and bookings for your lodging and your lift tickets by yourself. YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A CAMP MEMBER TO JOIN THIS EVENT. Just come ski with us!
However, we please ask you to let us know if you are coming - just add this s’more to the cart and check out as if you were paying for it. The price is zero, but this will give us an idea of how many are coming. Alternatively just drop us an email. We are organizing dinners for our group on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 so we need to have an idea of how big the group is going to be!
Lodging: unlike other ski resorts, Granite Peak does not have its own hotel, but it works with many hotels in the area, with special rates. You can see (and book) the hotels at a discounted rate HERE. Some of them are less than a mile from the ski area, some of them are a little further away or in Wasau proper, but still only 5-6 miles away. Rates start from $10ish per night per room (2 people) at the Super 8 and La Quinta, all the way up to $200 plus at the Hilton and everything in between. Please book whatever hotel you want, either from that list or anywhere else.
Ski pass: The earlier in advance you buy your ski pass here, the more you will save. If you are coming with a kid, look at the "combo" options, as they are cheaper. Please take note of their cancellation policy. Please book your lift ticket asap, because we have seen them close ticket sales for dates that are too busy/crowded.
Ski, snowboard, boots and helmets rental, are all available. You can book it all online when you buy your tickets.
Lessons: lessons of several types are available: group, private, semi private (up to 4). I know there are a few beginners who were interested in joining, and you could pool in to take a semi private lesson.
X-country skiing and Snowshoeing: the Southern part of the same mountain hosting the ski resort hosts Mountain Rib State Park, which has plenty of snowshoe trails. You can read about your options here, or do a google search. If you are into Xcountry skiing, there are many trails at the adjacent Nine Mile Forest Recreation area. You can read about them here.

THE EQUINOX S’MORE, RICHARD BONG STATE PARK, WI, MARCH 21-22, 2026
WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE
Join us for our second annual Equinox S’more, an overnight motocamping ride to celebrate the arrival of Spring. We will be camping one night at the Richard Bong State Park, in Wisconsin, on March 21. We will organize rides from Chicago and other locations to get there.

They have been naturally sculptured into a variety of shallow caves, arches, and formations resembling castle turrets and human profiles. The U.S. Congress designated Pictured Rocks the first National Lakeshore in the United States in 1966. It is governed by the National Park Service (NPS), with 22 year-round NPS employees as of May 2006, and received 1,313,179 visitors in 2021. You will need a national park pass to visit this.

The Colorado BDR is a sub 700 miles ride that includes dirt, rocks, sand and water crossings, all at very high altitude, extending from the Four Corners (Colorado/New Mexico/Utah/Arizona intersection) to the Wyoming border. It is considered an “intermediate” off road ride, and it requires skills, appropriate tires (fifty/fifty recommended) and an appropriate motorcycle (adventure, dual sport). It definitely isn't a route you should try if this is your first foray into off-roading.
We will send every attendants plenty of information, the GPX files and everything you need to know about the ride.
WHAT’S THE PLAN?
Starting on July 11th in the morning, we will ride one section a day, South/North, until we reach the end of section 6 on July 16th. We will be camping every night in a different place.
Please note - there may be the possibility to have your motorcycle trailered from the Chicagoland to the Denver/Estes Park area and back for a fee.

WHAT BIKE SHOULD YOU RIDE ON A BDR RIDE?
You must bring a dual sport/adventure motorcycle for this ride. The choice of tires is up to you, but we recommend 50/50 tires (i.e. designed for 50% off road use and 50% paved use). You won’t need them all the time, but when you need them, you will be very happy to have them.
CAMP COLORADO PAVED LOOP RIDE
CAMP COLORADO PAVED LOOP RIDE - JULY 16-22, 2026
WHAT AND WHEN
Join us for our first paved multi day loop ride in Colorado on July 16-22, and get ready to chase Colorado’s most iconic mountain roads for 5 days, sleeping each night at a different campground. Gunnison National and State Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, Telluride, the Million Dollar Highways are just a few of the highlights.
This event is immediately after our CAMP Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route (BDR) Ride, on July 10-16, so you can join both if you want.
This event is capped at 12 riders max, so book your spot ASAP.
WHAT’S THE PLAN?
There will be different options depending on how much you want to ride every day, but the outline looks like this:
Thursday, July 16th: arrival at the Rocky Mountains National Park, Estes Park, our point of departure
Friday, July 17th: Estes Park → Glenwood Springs, via Trail Ridge and Independence Pass
Saturday, July 18th: Greenwood Springs → Ouray, via Black Canyon and Million Dollar highway
Sunday, July 19th: Ouray → Telluride → Gunnison
Monday, July 20th: Gunnison → Alamosa (Great Sand Dunes National Park)

Friday, July 22: you go home or continue your journey wherever you want
Plan on a balanced daily mileage of 165–280 miles, perfect for a 5-day motorcycle adventure. With the exception of one single night, we will be staying at campgrounds that offer full amenities (read: showers, flush toilets) and sometimes even restaurants, pools and hot tubs.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I BOOK?
This event costs $375 per rider. This includes all your nights of camping (6), plus a rider book with plenty of information about the ride and a group t shirt.
If you have a CAMP 2026 Dual Sport Ride Pass, just let us know you are coming. You don’t have a S’more pass, buy you are interested in it? Find out more and get yours here.
Please note: CAMP S’mores and rides are open to members only. If you are not a member please add your membership to your cart before you pay for your S’more. Your S’more reservation will not be completed unless you are a member.
South East Minnesota Adventure Trail Ride
CAMP SOUTH EAST MINNESOTA ADVENTURE TRAIL RIDE, JULY 31st-AUGUST 2nd
WHAT, WHEN & WHERE
Join us for a two day motocamping ride of the South East Minnesota Adventure Trail, also known as SEMAT, on July 31st - August 2nd.
The SEMAT is a 435 mile loop ride through the bluffs of SE Minnesota. Mainly consisting of gravel and minimum maintenance road (similar to the TWAT in this), it can be completed in a couple of days, and this is exactly what we are planning on doing.
This route is ideal both for those who are just dipping their toes into off roading, and for those with more experience. This is the perfect shakedown to test your skills and your gear before you join us for our BDR rides.
A riders pack with a day to day itinerary, GPX tracks, essential information and more will be sent to all participants.
WHAT’S THE PLAN?
We will be camping 2 nights, in the same location, at a commercial campground right on the SEMAT, near Rochester, MN. After meeting on Friday night, July 31st, we will ride half of the loop on Saturday, going back to camp for the night. Sunday, we will pack our gear and finish the second half of the loop, and we will then go to our respective homes.
You can leave your gear at camp on Saturday, but you will be carrying it on your motorcycle on Sunday. There is no support vehicle.
WHAT BIKE SHOULD YOU RIDE?
You must bring a dual sport/adventure motorcycle for this ride. All motorcycles need to be street legal. The choice of tires is up to you, but all I can tell you is that off road tires are a cheap insurance against falls. Personally I recommend 50/50 tires (i.e. designed for 50% off road use and 50% paved use). You won’t need them all the time, but when you need them, you will be very happy to have them.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The ride costs $100 per rider. This fee includes your camping fees, GPX files; info pack with day to day itinerary and information. If you have a CAMP 2025 Dual Sport Ride Pass, just let us know you are coming. You don’t have a S’more pass, buy you are interested in it? Find out more and get yours here.
Please note that this ride is open to CAMP members only. Not a member? Just add your membership at check out and you are good to go.

The Sleeping Bear S'more
THE SLEEPING BEAR S’MORE, MICHIGAN - AUGUST 13-16, 2026
WHAT & WHEN
The Sleeping Bear S’more, AUGUST 13-16: join us for four days of camping in one of the most beautiful (and underrated) areas of the US: Sleeping Bear Dunes, in Michigan. This will be the perfect way to spend a wonderful Summer weekend: riding wonderful roads through quaint villages, tubing down the Platte River, laying on the beach (fingers crossed for the weather), eating cherries in Traverse City, drinking wine in the Leelanau Peninsula.
This is a return to the origins for our group: the first CAMP S’more, back in 2019, was in this very same campground, and it has been many years since we were there last.
The plan, in a nutshell, is the following:
Thursday, August 13: we will arrive on Thursday afternoon to the Platte River Sleeping Bear Dunes campground. This is right by where the Platte River meets Lake Michigan. Saying that this location is breathtakingly beautiful is an understatement.
If you cannot make it for Thursday night, no stress, you can join us on Friday night.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday you will be able to choose among several activities: you can join daily group rides lead by one of our members along routes we have prepared for you; you can ride solo following one of the itineraries we will share with you in advance; or you can do whatever other activity you want - hiking the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, going to a wine tasting in Traverse City, rent a boat, tube down the Platte River while sipping on a drink.
Every participant will receive a Rider’s Book with curated rides and relative GPX files, things to do, logistics.
WHERE
Our base will be the Platte River Sleeping Bear Dunes campground. Flushable toilets, showers, proper bathrooms, water are all available. Our campsite will not have electricity though - plan accordingly.
HOW MUCH
This S’more costs $90 per person. This includes the four nights of camping, your info pack with relative GPX files and s’mores and firewood every night.
Please note that the cost is PER CAMPer, not per tent. If two CAMPers share a tent, you need to buy two spots. Please note the price of your camping spot is the same whether you stay three or four nights, and it is the same whether you tent-camp or hammock-camp.
Please note: CAMP S’mores are open to members only. If you are not a member, please add your membership to your cart together with your S’more ticket. Your reservation will not be complete unless you are a member, and your spot will not be secured.
Please note we will be camping in bear country - there are no grizzlies, only black bears: bear-proof storage is provided at the campground. We will send out information that will help you to familiarize yourself about what to do when camping in bear country ahead of time.

CAMP OZARKS S’MORE
THE OZARKS FALL S’MORE - TYLER BEND, AR, OCTOBER 8-12, 2026
WHAT AND WHEN
Join us on October 8-12 for CAMP’s Fall trip to the Ozarks: paved and unpaved riding through Fall colors in one of the most beautiful areas of the United States. You don’t want to miss this.
The abundance of spectacular motorcycle rides in Arkansas is still a well-kept secret, unfortunately. From the wide-open Delta plains to the twisty mountain backroads, the riding here is phenomenal and the scenery is like nowhere else. But if Arkansas is gorgeous year-round, fall is an especially eye-catching season. Fall foliage sets The Natural State ablaze with a blanket of vibrant reds, oranges and yellows.
WHERE
Our base will be the Tyler Bend Campground. Located 11 miles northwest of Marshall, Arkansas, Tyler Bend is set on a quiet, peaceful section of the great Buffalo National River, offering beautiful and quiet views of the river beside pastures. The campground has flush toilets, showers and everything you need to be comfortable.
The appeal of this location is that it offers both great paved and unpaved riding. It sits right in the middle of a web of gorgeous mountain roads, and it is very close to a section of the Trans Atlantic Trail.
The surrounding area is spectacular. The Buffalo National River flows free over swift running rapids and quiet pools for its 135-mile length. One of the few remaining rivers in the lower 48 states without dams, the Buffalo cuts its way through massive limestone bluffs traveling eastward through the Arkansas Ozarks and into the White River.
Aside from riding opportunities, our location offers plenty of fishing, kayaking, tubing, plus the obvious Fall colors, which with a bit of luck should be at peak when we are there.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WHAT’S INCLUDED?
This S’more costs $175 per person. This includes your camping spot for 4 nights, curated paved rides with relative GPX files and a riders’ info pack with things to do in the area, firewood and s’mores every night.
If you have a CAMP 2026 S’more pass, just let us know you are coming. You don’t have a S’more pass, buy you are interested in it? Find out more and get yours here.
Please note: CAMP S’mores are open to members only. If you are not a member please add your membership to your cart before you pay for your S’more. Your S’more reservation will not be completed unless you are a member.
There is the opportunity to have your bike transported back and forth from the Chicagoland at a fee - please drop a message about this at checkout. First come, first serve. You can also take advantage of CAMP Membership Plus, which includes 4 days of motorcycle rental. Up to you.

WHERE
Our base will be the New Discovery State Park, Located 20 miles North East of Montpelier, the State’s capital.
Located in the 27,000-acre Groton State Forest, New Discovery State Park was built by the CCC in the 1930's and today many of their stone fireplaces and log picnic pavilions are still in use. The park is a hub for the many miles of trails in Groton State Forest. The rocky, tree covered hillsides were originally cloaked with white pine, spruce, hemlock, beech, maple and birch. These were initially logged by local farmers for lumber, fuel and potash. The logging industry was large-scale for almost 100 years while the railroad was operating.
Although this will be a tent camping event, we have booked so called “lean to” structures. These are shelters where you can pitch your tent OR use as a community area to store gear and protect yourself from the elements, while pitching your tent outside. Showers, water, brick made grills are all available.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WHAT’S INCLUDED?
This S’more costs $200 per person. This includes your camping spot for 4 nights in Lean to structures (see above), curated paved rides with relative GPX files and a riders’ info pack with things to do in the area, firewood and s’mores every night.

CAMP UTAH BDR
CAMP UTAH BDR RIDE - September 27-October 4
WHAT AND WHEN
Join us for CAMP Utah Backcountry Discovery Route (BDR) Ride, on September 27-October 4- seven days of riding off road and motocamping along the spectacular terrain of Utah.
Beginning near Mexican Hat, UT and ending in Garden City, UT this 900 mile route includes iconic places including Valley of the Gods, Moab, the Abajo and La Sal mountains, Onion Creek, 9 Mile Canyon and the Wasatch Mountains. Utah is unpredictable with mud that is impassable when wet and storms that can wash out roads at anytime. We will send every attendants plenty of information, the GPX files and everything you need to know about the ride.
WHAT’S THE PLAN?
The plan is to ride the seven sections of the Utah BDR, South/North. We will get togeter in the evening of September 27th, starting the route in the morning of September 28th. We will be camping every night in a different place.

CAMP TSD Rally
CAMP TSD RALLY - SUNDAY, MAY 11, 2025
Join us for our very first TSD Rally. What is a TSD Rally? TSD stands for “time-speed-distance.” TSD rally is a precision-based competition where a driver (or in our case a motorcyclist) must stay on a specific route over many miles and go through checkpoints at specific times. It is not about going as fast as you can, it’s about arriving to a precise location as accurately as possible and within a specific time. If you go too fast or too slow you are penalised equally. This event will be held on public roads, in the Drifltess area. More information will be realeased in January 2025, when you will also be able to sign up.
In the meantime, a few key things:
This event is NOT a race - it will be held on public roads, and it doesn’t require speeding. If anything, speeding is guaranteed to make you lose.
This event is open to any motorcycle, as long as it is street legal. Scooters are also welcome.
This event will be held on PAVED roads.
This event will take place on Sunday May 11, 2025. No overnight travels are required, if you live in the Midwest, but you will have the option to stay at a nearby hotel if you prefer.
The Rally will last around 3 hours, and it will be followed by a lunch.
How A TSD Rally Works
The rally organizers, sometimes called rally masters, create a route then pre-run it keeping track of mileage. They determine where checkpoints are, and how long it should take (and the distance) between them. This route, as run by the rally master, is the car-zero time (CZT). This is the official time, speed, and distance for the rally. The whole event is based on this.
Entrants will be given a route book with instructions that are followed chronologically. Alongside this will be odometer readings and designated speeds. The instructions provide a variety of information from where to turn, signs to observe, and hazards to avoid.

The Equinox S'more
THE EQUINOX S’MORE, RICHARD BONG STATE PARK, WI, MARCH 22-23
WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE
Join us for our very fist Equinox S’more, an overnight motocamping ride to celebrate the arrival of Spring. We will be camping one night at the Richard Bong State Park, in Wisconsin, on March 22. We will organize rides from Chicago and other locations to get there.
Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America's leading air ace during World War II. The air base was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations.
Campground amenities include a shower building, flush and vault toilets, a dump station and a playground area.
This is a PAVED event. However, depending on the weather, the park’s off road area MAY or MAY NOT be open to the public. If it is open, nothing stops you from going for a couple of laps to take the dust off your off road capabilities, if you want.
This S’more is only $25, and it includes your camping spot for one night.

CAMP THIRD ANNUAL ICE S’MORE
CAMP THIRD ANNUAL ICE S’MORE - GOVERNOR DODGE STATE PARK, WI, JANUARY 18-19, 2025
WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE?
Join us for a quick overnight winter camping trip in Wisconsin’s Winter Wonderland on January 18-19, at Governor Dodge State Park. This State Park traditionally plows a few of its campsites for the Winter, and that’s where we will camp. Yes, in January. Are we crazy? No (ok, maybe).

CAMP MID ATLANTIC BDR RIDE
CAMP MID ATLANTIC BDR RIDE - OCTOBER 6-12
WHAT AND WHEN
Join us for CAMP MID ATLANTIC BACK COUNTRY DISCOVERY ROUTE (BDR) RIDE, on October 6-12 - a full week of riding beautiful trails along the Appalachian mountains, from Virginia to Pennsylvania.
The MABDR is a scenic ride for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles that uses dirt, gravel and paved roads to wind through remote parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Starting in Damascus Virginia, and ending in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, PA, this 1,080-mile route, primarily uses forest roads and rural country lanes, to lead riders through the Appalachian mountains, majestic forests, bucolic farming landscapes, Amish country, and locations that played pivotal roles in early American history. It is considered the easiest of the BDRs, so it is ideal if you have ridden the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail with us in the past, and want to get a little more technical. But regardless of the difficulty, what makes this ride gorgeous this time of the year are the Fall colors of the mountains. You should join even if you are pro at off road riding!
We will send every attendants plenty of information, the GPX files and everything you need to know about the ride.
WHAT’S THE PLAN?
The plan is to ride all the sections of the MABDR, South/North. Starting on October 6 in the morning, we will ride all the way to the Pennsylvania terminal on October 12. We will be camping every night in a different place.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I BOOK?
This event only costs $250 per rider. This includes your six nights of camping, plus a rider book with plenty of information about the ride and a group t shirt.
If you have a CAMP 2024 Dual Sport Ride Pass, just let us know you are coming - this ride is included. You don’t have a S’more pass, buy you are interested in it? Find out more and get yours here.
Please note: CAMP S’mores and rides are open to members only. If you are not a member please add your membership to your cart before you pay for your S’more. Your S’more reservation will not be completed unless you are a member.
TRANSPORTING YOUR MOTORCYCLE
You don’t want to ride your motorcycle to/from there and you are in the Chicagoland? Good news: we can transport 3 motorcycles from the Chicagoland to destination and back for $600 per motorcycle, first come / first serve. If you are interested, please make a comment about this in the form at check out and we will follow up.
You would like to join but don’t have a suitable motorcycle? Become a CAMP Plus member, and you get 4 days of motorcycle rental included in your membership.
